I am interested in how the laws work here. I once had my mace seized from me on my way to a ren fair. What are the laws pertaining to knives in your vehicle? Can you have whatever you want in the cab? Also what are the laws about concealed knives?

I'm in Oregon and carry a single-edged knuckle-duster in a sheath. I've been arrested for a number of mickey-mouse unprosocuted "crimes" and always get my knife back eventually. I carried it all over Europe and then had it siezed by Port Authority going into Sweden. Ehh....so I bought another.

Best knife going.

Re: Knife laws CA
Wed, August 31, 2005 - 9:57 PMThe link to Bernard Levine's site has all the relevant statutes, and they are up to date.
Summarized:
You cannot carry a switchblade or balisong over 2" (legal to own, though)
A folding knife of any length can be carried and concealed.
A fixed blade knife of any length can be carried, but must not be concealed.
There is no mention of single vs. double edge.
Laws are more restrictive at schools & universities.
Mace, since you mentioned it, and OC, are legal. It was taken because the guy at the door didn't want you to bring it in, not because it was illegal. -
